I'm an omnivore attempting a vegan diet for the entire month of September. I hope to continue being vegan come October. This is my progress diary! I will be posting everything related to my transition from omnivore to vegan.

I have been so busy lately that I haven’t been eating healthily- I keep opting for noodles, toast, anything that takes under five minutes to make. This has led me to feel some pretty awful hypoglycemic like symptoms in the afternoon- I crash, can’t concentrate, get shaky, headaches, and a raging appetite that just leads me back to starchy awful carbs that just drive my blood sugar right back up again. It’s a horrible cycle. I’m going to see my doctor next week, as well as a naturopath, so I can see whats going on with my body, stop this awful fatigue, and feel better. I will also do my best to abstain from refined carbohydrates- they are now the enemy >__>

This is the upside down lentil shepherd’s pie from appetite for reduction. So I haven’t made it look very appetizing, but my god. This was incredibly satisfying. The mash ‘potato’ is actually half cauliflower. The lentil filling includes mushroom, carrot, zucchini, garlic, and onion. Freaking delicious. The mushrooms had soaked up all of the vegetable broth and were full of flavour. yap

I can’t get over how tasty fry’s burger patties are. I’ve been eating so many burgers lately, and a lot of potato, so I haven’t really had any exciting meals to take pictures of. A new vegan cookbook should arrive in my mailbox soon, can’t wait to try out ze recipes. ~~

So this evening my mum made me a “vegan” pastie with corn, peas, swedes and turnip. I asked her several times before I started eating: “Are you sure this is vegan? Are you sure the pastry is vegan? No cheese, milk, or anything?”, to which she assured me that she had checked everything to make sure. After I started eating she then said, “I added a dash of worcestershire sauce and soy sauce for the flavour.”

*facepalm*

“Mum, you do know that worcestershire sauce has anchovies in it?”
“Oh, what? Where? Oh I’m sorry, it doesn’t have that much in it.”
